Random Readers: Qatar University
I found out today that an article I wrote about Abu Dhabi awhile back was used as a reference in a project completed by urban planning students at Qatar University last year. The article that I authored is from 2011 and reflects on how Abu Dhabi much Abu Dhabi has controrted itself around the automobile. The plethora of inexpensive gasoline that is available there combined with the wealth that comes from selling oil has put a clear stamp on the planning and development of Abu Dhabi. I feel honored that urban planning students in Qatar took a read of my article and thought it relevant enough to recommend to other students as a resource.
Here are a couple photos from that trip. I ended up visiting both the UAE and Oman, as well as a piece of the UAE in a piece of Oman in the UAE. When I wasn’t doing research, I also spent some time with friends working on planning passenger rail service between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
